El Consejo para Prevenir y Eliminar la Discriminación de la Ciudad de México (COPRED) expresa sus más profundas condolencias y solidaridad con las víctimas, sus familias y seres queridos, así como con las comunidades LGBTIQ+ y con la ciudad de Berlín, ante el grave ataque ocurrido el sábado 25 de julio en el marco de las celebraciones del Christopher Street Day (CSD).
Lo ocurrido nos recuerda dolorosamente que los espacios de celebración, visibilidad y reivindicación de derechos de las personas LGBTIQ+ siguen enfrentando amenazas y violencias que no pueden ser normalizadas ni minimizadas.
Las marchas del Orgullo son espacios conquistados a través de décadas de lucha. Representan el derecho a existir y vivir libremente, a ocupar el espacio público sin miedo y a expresar abiertamente quiénes somos. Atacar estos espacios significa también atentar contra los valores democráticos de igualdad, libertad, diversidad y convivencia que los hacen posibles.
Berlín y la Ciudad de México comparten una larga trayectoria de reconocimiento y defensa de la diversidad y forman parte de la Rainbow Cities Network, una red internacional de ciudades comprometidas con los derechos y la inclusión de las personas LGBTIQ+. Este vínculo hace especialmente cercana para nuestra ciudad la violencia ocurrida durante el CSD de Berlín.
Desde la Ciudad de México enviamos nuestra solidaridad a Berlín y a sus comunidades LGBTIQ+. Acompañamos a quienes hoy viven el dolor y las consecuencias de este ataque, y reconocemos también a quienes continúan defendiendo espacios públicos en los que todas las personas puedan vivir y expresarse con libertad y dignidad.
Frente a la violencia y el odio, las ciudades tenemos la responsabilidad de reafirmar nuestro compromiso con la igualdad y la no discriminación.
Berlín no está sola. Sus comunidades LGBTIQ+ no están solas.

The Council to Prevent and Eliminate Discrimination of Mexico City (COPRED) expresses its deepest condolences and solidarity with the victims, their families and loved ones, as well as with the LGBTIQ+ communities and the City of Berlin, following the serious attack that took place on Saturday, July 25, during the Christopher Street Day (CSD) celebrations.
What happened is a painful reminder that spaces of celebration, visibility, and advocacy for the rights of LGBTIQ+ people continue to face threats and violence that must never be normalized or minimized.
Pride marches are spaces reclaimed through decades of struggle. They represent the right to exist and live freely, to occupy public space without fear, and to openly express who we are. An attack on these spaces is also an attack on the democratic values of equality, freedom, diversity, and coexistence that make them possible.
Berlin and Mexico City share a long-standing commitment to recognizing and defending diversity, and both are members of the Rainbow Cities Network, an international network of cities committed to the rights and inclusion of LGBTIQ+ people. This bond makes the violence that occurred during Berlin’s CSD particularly close to our city.
From Mexico City, we send our solidarity to Berlin and its LGBTIQ+ communities. We stand with those who are experiencing the pain and consequences of this attack, and we also recognize all those who continue to defend public spaces where everyone can live and express themselves freely and with dignity.
In the face of violence and hatred, cities have a responsibility to reaffirm our commitment to equality and non-discrimination.
Berlin is not alone. Its LGBTIQ+ communities are not alone.
